Books on Consignment

Do You Want Your Book to be Noticed?

Many businesses are willing to sell books on consignment for local authors. I first had  books for sale at a restaurant called The Brits in Longview, Washington. It was a perfect spot because Wordfest met there each month. Because I have a story in each of the Not Your Mother's Book titles, I sell and promote each title. In the upper row of books on the far right, you will also see Chicken Soup for the Soul in Menopause, co-created by Dahlynn McKowen, who now publishes Not Your Mother's Book . . . On Being a Parent and all of the Not Your Mother's Books. Since I have a story in this Chicken Soup book, I also placed it on consignment at The Brits. Unfortunately, The Brits closed. Then I started looking for new spots to display the books.

I take my dog to doggy daycare at The Dog Zone, Longview, Washington, so I asked the owner if he would sell Not  Your Mother's Book . . . On Dogs.

"Sure," he said.  He even made a sign to tell customers that there is a story in the book (The Dump by Pat Nelson) about one of the Dog Zone dogs, my Great Dane - Labradoodle Brisa. If you buy a copy, I might even be able to get her to put her paw print on it.

You will also find this book for sale at veterinarian Patty Stevens's office, Timberland Pet Clinic, in Woodland, WA.

A Wordfest participant, Terrie Spindle, operates a wonderful gallery filled with local art in Castle Rock, Washington, and she offered to sell books by local authors. I displayed all six of the NYMB books at her location. Here I am in the photo, at far right, shopping at the Pacific Northwest Gift Gallery with friends. Terrie held an Artisan Sale & Open House with artists and authors, drawings and refreshments. Visitors brought pet food and blankets to donate to the Cowlitz County Humane Society and part of the proceeds from the sale of Not Your Mother's Book . . . On Dogs was also donated.

The restaurant where I held my book launch, Gyros Gyros in Longview, Washington,

recently added a section for the books of local authors. If you place books on consignment, ask if the business owners would like to hold book signings or readings. These photos are from my book launch of Not Your Mother's Book . . . On Being a Parent. The crowd on the right is listening to the Not Your Mother's Book stories read by the story contributors in the photo on the left. Gyros Gyros isn't just a great place to sell books . . . it is a great place for lunch or dinner!
